12/06/20 - Leading With Your Left - Proverbs 3:5-6

OPENING TRAILS

I am thankful that God so loved the world that beyond John 3:16 that :

1)  He gave the writer of Hebrews the prophetic insight to reveal to us thousands of years ago that "[Abraham] waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God." Hebrews 11:10

2)  Isaiah was given the insight in Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV)

6 For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

3)  and that Peter was given the mystery that

1 Peter 1:10-12 (NKJV)

10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, 11 trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow. 12 It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.

Awesome!

THE PATH

Some time ago, I shared with someone that during the next season of their lives that they would be "leading with their left [hand]". The person was right-handed. The right-hand is also my dominate hand and foot, so "leading with my left" hand for foot, is quite uncomfortable for me.

As we walk by faith, God calls to get out of our comfort zone and do things beyond our natural understanding and strength.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV), one of the earliest verses I memorized as young believer says :

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.

Faith takes us beyond our understanding and strength.  Isaiah 55:8-9 confirms with simple clarity why God sometimes calls us to "lead with our  left" :

8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.
9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts."

  1. What a powerful insight about "leading with our left" (hand, foot). Thank you, Paul!
